The need for collaboration between the Ondo State Hospitals’ Management Board (HMB) and the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (OSPHCDA) to improve healthcare services has been emphasised.
The HMB Chairman, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, spoke during a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary of OSPHCDA, Dr Francis Akanbiemu, in his office in Akure last Wednesday.
According to him, collaboration between the two establishments would enable the state to achieve the desired outcomes in the health sector through the provision of quality healthcare to residents.
While commending the Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his dedication to the sector, Fasoranti noted that the governor aims to improve the sector to ensure the people benefit from quality healthcare.
Describing primary healthcare as the foundation of the health system, he reiterated the board’s resolve to do what is necessary to improve the sector, stating, “The board is reaching out to health facilities for their needs assessment. This will enable us to have a clear vision and mission in enhancing healthcare delivery in the state.”
Other board members, including Nurse Aarinola Adamolekun, Dr Rotimi Wilson, and Pharm (Dr) Taiwo Adefunrin, praised the Permanent Secretary’s efforts in providing healthcare services to residents through the primary healthcare system.
In response, Akanbiemu, while expressing gratitude to the board members, called for their dedication and assured them of collaboration, particularly in advocating for the HMB at national health meetings.
He commended the needs assessment of health facilities being conducted by the board and urged all stakeholders to do their best in improving the sector.
